Matrixx-M Installed In The Christ Hospital’s New NICU
CINCINNATI, OH
The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati recently completed an 8,000 square foot renovation of its level III NICU. The level III remodel includes 14 new bays, all outfitted with the Matrixx-M vertical headwall system. The new headwall system allows equipment to be placed where needed, optimizing height and reach.
The Matrixx-M equipment management system was installed through a collaboration between Nexxspan, Champlin Architecture, KFI Engineers and Brodwill. The unique design of the headwall makes future expansion simple and optimizes flexibility and functionality.
A goal of The Christ Hospital’s new NICU project was to emulate the Cincinnati community. The artwork throughout the unit reflects the world famous Cincinnati Zoo and includes art painted by the animals themselves. In addition, the hospital hired a Cincinnati based architect and equipment planner, to head up the project. The planning team used the NICU Design Standards, published in the Journal of Perinatology, to guide the design of the project to create the optimal healing environment for high risk newborns, their families and hospital staff.
The Matrixx-M headwall system provides multiple gas, electrical, lighting and data capabilities near the infant with integrated product features such as rail and pole mounts for optimal clinical practice. By integrating Nexxspan’s equipment mounting solutions into the headwall and adjacent wall space, equipment can be placed and relocated where needed without cluttering the floor space or nearby areas and can be adjusted to meet the patient’s acuity needs. As the child continues to improve, the equipment can be removed providing much needed reassurance to the family.
