Nexxspan’s Matrixx-M Installed in Nationwide Children’s Hospital at OSU
COLUMBUS, OH
Nationwide Children’s Hospital, on the campus of Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, completed an expansion and renovation of its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to include Nexxspan’s Matrixx-M vertical headwall system. The hospital cares for over 3,000 at-risk infants annually. The new unit includes both private rooms for newborns as well as enlarged bays that provide families with added privacy to better support critical parent-child bonding.
The flexibility of the component based Matrixx-M allows for specialty configurations based on clinical needs. By modifying the headwall, Nexxspan Healthcare was able to exceed the expectations of Nationwide Children’s by separating the gas and electrical services on the Matrixx-M for their newly renovated NICU. This unique design expanded the facility’s medical gas service capabilities to allow for additional equipment as needed or to accommodate multiple babies such as twins in the same family room.
An added benefit of the Matrixx-M vertical headwall is the integrated equipment management systems which use rail and poles to place equipment near the infant when needed and then easily remove as the child improves. In addition, by mounting equipment on or near the headwall, clutter on surfaces is reduced.
